Dr. Jean Hausheer completed her ophthalmology training at Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology in 1986. She is a native of Kansas City, specializing in advanced laser vision corrective surgery (LASIK). Her refractive surgery experience began in 1992 with radial and astigmatic keratotomy, following mini fellowship training and certification. In 1995 she became certified in VISX and Summit excimer laser systems, and has since been treating myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia with PRK and LASIK procedures. 1996 is when Dr. Hausheer started LASIK surgery, and in 1998 became certified as a LASIK instructor by Moria using their microkeratome systems, and actively trains area ophthalmologists in LASIK surgery here in Kansas City . Dr. Hausheer was invited by VISX to train and certify as a physician trainer for excimer laser procedures, and completed that certification process in December 2000 . She is Director of Refractive Surgery at the Eye Foundation of Kansas City. Dr. Hausheer is Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Eye Foundation of Kansas City and Department of Ophthalmology, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC). She is past president of the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. She recently completed a gubernatorial appointment to the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts as board member and secretary to the board. She is a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgeons and Refractive Surgery Interest Group. |
